Depending the formula, lip lasts can be your best friend.
This is the first of a series I have wanted to start on for a while now entitled: This or That?
I will be testing out both lines, comparing them, and telling you all my favourites - favourite colours within each, what I like, dislike, least fav, and overall my favourite brand (follow the colour guide ^). Click on the names for direct links!
Pinterest, Instagram Explorer page, and various YouTubers have shed a crazed light on: Colourpop Cosmetics and Kylie Jenner's Lip Kits. I cannot get enough of these lipwears!
ColourPop Colours: Limbo,Teeny Tiny, StingRAYE, Kapow, Beeper, Avenue, Tulle, Zipper COST: $8.00 CAN/ulttra matte lip last PROS: cost, many colours CONS: some colours can get streaky with application (Zipper, Avenue)
Ultimately, Kylie's Lipkit formula is the best in terms of feel and application (in my opinion), ColourPop comes close and is much better than other matte lip lasts such as NYX (one I chose to remove from this comparison blog). But, for cost and quality, ColourPop out shines the rest! The only thing I would have done differently is bought the correspoding lip liner to these liquid lipsticks! (WHICH is what I am doing currently). IF YOU GUYS OPT FOR COLOURPOP YOU HAVE HAVE HAVE TO GET THE LINERS! Then, you will have your own lip kits for half the cost and well worth it. The liner makes it easier to maneuver the formula which is why the Kylie lipkits are so famous. Since I have a steady hand, ColourPop went on relatively smooth, but the liners would have made for a sharper and fuller lip look. BOTH liquid lipsticks make it extremely easy to create a full (or fuller) lip by over-drawing, while the formulas leave a matte finish. Kylie's lip kits include a liner which makes it that much easier. I recommend both - I don't think you can go wrong with either company, especially if you want to get fun colours with ColourPop and a neutral every day with Kylie Cosmetics.
Do They Last? YES - especially Kylie's. I did not put them to the "eat test", but they are all transfer proof. If you do eat - it is just the nature of cosmetics - the inside of your lips (which has contact with moisture) will need re-application, especially when eating oily foods. I drank water and had some bean chips, and Dolce K did not budge.
Dolce K, Beeper, Tulle
To sum my review - I am most definitely ordering from BOTH of these companies again. ColourPop has other amazing products that I am excited to try, alongside other colours. Kylie's Mary Jo K & True Brown K are my next purchases!
Helpful Hint: I love the appearance of full lips (not too overdrawn, but just the right amount). Many times, girls REALLY overdraw their lips and it is evident (which doesn't look that nice).
Remember to go just above your lip line to give the appearance of full lips (or fuller lips).
Thoughts: should I review the other buzz liplasts? DoseColours, Limecrime, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Jeffery Star? Hope you all enjoyed love bugs!
