If you thought this blog was going to be about the pencils, papers and other true necessities of schooling, than I am sorry to tell you it wont be. This blog is about the other necessities...the makeup kind! I was running low on my every day products and did a little online shopping to pick up items that are truly my go-tos. I also got a little credit card happy and decided to pick up some new products to try. So let's get started on what I believe are my few back to school essentials as seen in the pictures below.
I will post swatches of the products soon. Everything seen below excluding the eye shadow pallets + liquid lipsticks are all re-purchased items. Concealer, foundation, eye brow wiz, pressed powder and mascaras are just a few items that I use daily, sometimes all of them or sometimes a variation of them. I never used to wear concealer, until Alla introduced me to her favourite one. I will never forget a when Alla asked what concealer I used and I said none, the expression on her face was priceless. Alla was introduced to this product a few years back from Carli Bybel (you all know my love for her), who also introduced her the perfect dupe. If you are trying to save some moula, Carli Bybel/Alla recommend Mabeline's Fit Me Concealer. .
As for the mascaras, I love the combination of the two above together. Sometimes, when using more than one mascara, you can create an awesome contrast building upon each of the formulas strengths. Alla also introduced me to the reflecting light setting powder a few months back. It is a matte powder that really hides dark circles and reflects the light making underneath your eyes and your cheekbones seem lightened. Test it out for yourselves, it gives a contoured look without being too powdery or glittery. I find when I use my contour kit, the lighter shades seem more pilled on as opposed to creating structure. I love my glow kits as well, but trying to get that fresh and lightened look seems challenging when your face is a disco ball (which don't get me wrong, I LOVE the sparkle and some days I want the look of a highlight so powerful a diamond could crack in half). But, the pressed setting powder allows you to make the most out of your contour kits and glow kits! .
Click me to read my huge makeup haul from a few months back. A lot of what I still use and consider essentials can be found there.
The last item I am waiting for is my foundation, My FAV go to is Make Up Forever HD Foundation (in 127). The next foundation I want to try that can be seen in my camera roll via screen shots, is the Georgio Armani satin finish. The Kardashians and Jenners rave about the coverage and feel, I am just waiting until I can hit one of the downtown Sephora locations. I wouldn't recomend buying a new oundation online before swatching the shades in person. Atleast for me, I like to ensure my foundations are THE PERFECT match. One thing to keep in mind is to choose a shade that is your colour if not a touch lighter. Bronzers can always give you that sun kissed feel without having the jaw line show a before and after line.
So thankful I have a knack for online shopping, I was ale to snag Kylie's Kyshadow Bronze Pallet and I am obsessed. Definitely going to be used frequently this fall. The pallet could have been called "Fall" because the colours scream leaves, lattes, pumpkin patches and sweater weather! Speaking of sweater weather...does anyone else love the song Sweater Weather - .The Neighbourhood? It came out a few years back, and TBH I still love it and have added it to my September playlist on spotify. Isn't it funny how my writting style jumps from one topic to the next, I have such scatter brain which probably makes reading my blog quite interesting - sorry friends!
I have a funny feeling I will be doing a makeup tutorial soon, and quite possibly with this pallet! I have been encouraged by many friends to follow through on filming with makeup, and although I did one sort of tutorial-esque video, it was more a "get ready with me" styled video with outfit details as well. I think I want to do a full out makeup tutorial, once I finalize a few things (you will all see soon enough). I love filming videos, and I really want my blog to incorporate more picture look books, vlogs, tutorials and video based look books. I recommend all of these products, especially the Kyshadows. Try and grab them when you can. Happy Tuesday my darlings & remember:
Next time you think of beautiful things, don't forget to count yourself in.
