Tis' the season to be blogging, fa-la-la-la-laaa, la-la-la-laa! (yup, I did that)
I love the holidays, I am a holiday junkie no matter what the occasion. Today, I finally finished my holiday shopping. I think I will repeat the same pattern each year where I say to myself that I will complete everything a head of time, but finalize everything the final days approaching Christmas.
I decided to dedicate a post on a few tips and tricks I have gathered over the years. Below you will find details on gift guides and a how-to prep. My secrets and inspirations and some ideas that can help you if you are in a bind.
I LIVE by my iPhone notes. Seriously. If I need to remember something, an idea, future blogs, outfits, whatever the case may be, I have both an emoji and a suitable note for that. I keep a catelogue of gift ideas EACH under a subheading with the names of important people in my life. I think there are 10 names right now that have specific ideas, or items mentioned which make gift giving a lot easier. Whenever someone you love mentions an interest or something they like, jot it down. It is a great tool of reference for later.
You can also use notes or a pen and paper to layout price points and list what, who and where you are buying from or for. This was a helpful tip when figuring out what I was buying and for who. I was able to organize how much I needed, for what, to budget time, money and efficiency. When in doubt, plan it out. If you are on a time crunch, this tip can be an anxiety killer. If you have only a limited time to buy gifts at a store due to schedule or work conflicts, writting it out can help prepare you for what stores you need to go into and can minimize wasted time which leads to efficiency.
Finding the perfect gift can be difficult. I have attached some amazing go to's on my list. These are fan favourites. I have compiled a list for men and women (and while I hate gender coding because I don't necessarily agree that lipsticks are only for women or golf balls are only for men) I do so to appeal to the certain person you are shopping for (i.e. looking for last minute gift for Dad, you can search from (for him).
If you are still struggling to find any little things, or any gifts at all, check out some of these ideas for help. Also, PINTEREST is and has always been my saviour for pretty much any and all aspects in my life, including ideas for Christmas. Dating Divas is a great website for customizing cards or romantic ideas that are easy and just a click a way.
|| Dress shirt (men never have enough of them) || 5 senses gifts (something for him to see, hear, touch, feel and taste...be as creative as you like) || Golf Balls (or anything sports related, if he likes Basketball, get him a raptors style ball) || Wallet (why is it that most men in my life have a hacked up wallet in need of replacement) || Video game (try and find what is popular) || Underwear (SAXX is THE BEST so I have been told - hugs the boys jusssst right)
For Her || Lipstick (Kat Von D, Bite, Stila, Too Faced | Sephora or Kylie will make her smiley) || Nail Polish (OPI, Essie) || Bath Bomb (lush) || Journal or Agenda || Anything and everything from Pretty Thingz (and no, bot because I work there, I just see how happy everyone is when they shop here) || Charmed Candles (they come with a hidden surprise) || Knit Sweater (these are all I really want this time of year, see Aritzia, H&M and Forever 21, Madewell has some beautiful ones too) || Slippers and/or comfy Pjs (Ugg, La Vie En Rose, Victoria Secret) || Spa gift card (always thoughtful and very much appreciated, pampering is nice)
Wrap It Dollarama, meet your favourite holiday shop. I go here to get all my wrapping paper, bags, stockings and/or miniature decorations. Every year, I make Christmas loot bags, but seeing as I worked so much, I was unable to follow through on these loot bags (which are all bought at the Dollar store). You can find so many creative holsters, decor pieces even food trays for your festive fun. I HIGHLY recommend going here. Also, they sell certain size Christmas boxes with characters such as Santa or snowy penguins. If you buy a bow and name tag Christmas sticker, you are pretty much golden. I also tend to buy my Christmas card packs here (although those special get their own cards ALWAYS from Papyrus).
Love It Relish in this process, Christmas comes once a year. Do not get stressed out, it always gets done and it always turns out just fine. Use these steps to alleviate any stress. Love your friends, love your family and love yourself. I hope everyone enjoys these last few hussle and bussle days before Christmas. Stay tuned I will update this post with more ideas tomorrow.
PS. Tomorrow is our annual Improv Christmas Party, I cannot wait to see these beautiful faces!
