Creating your own perfect shade of lipstick once a dream is now a reality located in the heart of Toronto. Thanks to my lovely friends and Instagram, I stumbled upon The Bite Beauty Lip Lab and discovered the possibility of personalizing a lipstick. Being both a lipstick fanatic (usually liquid lipsticks) and a connoisseur for trying new things (my intentions for 2017), I sent a group message to my ladies and we were off for an amazing girls day.
The lab is located on Queen Street West, once you arrive you will be greeted by one of the creators and take a seat in one of the empty chairs facing a lip stool style bar.
Step One: A cotton pad filled with makeup remover will be handed to you to rid yourself of any makeup that could confuse the colours. Step Two: After, they will provide you with a serum to hydrate your lips. Step Three: You are then able to explain what you are looking for. My package called for 2 new lipsticks (I decided on going with a perfect nude and then was thinking some sort of red). Step Four: You will be able to adjust the colours to meet your exact specifications (trying on a few as you like, comparing and suggesting to your lab technician on going a shade lighter, more gold tones, warmer tones, etc). Step Five:FINISH...well, not exactly. BUT, you do get to choose a finish you would be interested in (luminous, sheer, matte) I chose both lipsticks to be matte finishes, I prefer my lipsticks with that feel and look.
Step Six: Once you pick your shade among all the others, you choose a scent (mint, vanilla, citrus, wild berry, etc can be seen in the video). You can combine up to two scents together. Step Seven: Now you are able to inscribe a name for this lipstick (I chose for my nude: Send Nudes and for the red: Gena). The caps can be interchangeable. I thought, it would be fun to have one with my name! Step Eight: Lastly, wait for 10-20 minutes while your lipsticks are being made (instead, we paid and went to Terroni a block down for delicious Italian cuisine).
Cost Packages Custom Lipstick $55.00 for 1 lipstick or 2 for $80.00 - includes: choosing a shade from 200 exclusive Bite pigments
Bespoke Lipstick $150.00 for 2 lipsticks. THIS is where you TRULY create your own lipstick by combining pigments together. These are 2 unique shades crafted for your perfect lip as opposed to 200 already existing pigments. Also comes with an exclusive kit (brush, lip liner/primer and lip scrub which they were out of yesterday).
Review I genuinely loved my experience. I am very happy I chose the Bespoke Package and created my perfect lipstick(s). I think it is pricey so my recommendation would be to use this fun lip experience as an idea for a bachlorette party or a fun girls night. It is not something that you do over and over again, unless you are a makeup artist or have a passion for makeup (like myself) and see it as an investment. My mom and I will be going back to the Beauty Lip Lab, she saw my video and said this was her birthday gift. (Which was funny, because I already offered this to her before I went, but she was skeptical). I also have another surprise in mind for my mom (as to where we are going to dine) stay tuned for the February long weekend. My mama's birthday is in March, but my mom is just like me, a little impatient and wants this experience sooner rather then later. Also, the service is wonderful. You are able to buy some wine during this process which my girlfriends adored ($7.00 per glass) and were served a few healthy chips.
Look Book Below are some other pictures of our day, not to mention the outfit details that I have had 3 individuals message me via Instagram for! Also, as stated above, the girls and I headed over to Terroni for dinner. We ordered the cheese board which offered 2 jams + honey, bread and an assortment of cheeses which were amazing ($20.00). For my main, I actually chose 2 pastas as I couldn't decide between them. The first being Tagliatelle alla Bolognese ($19.00) and Gnocchi alla Simi ($17.00). I usually love gnocchi but I was addicted to the bolognese. I think the ragu (meat sauce) was just too yummy. Personally, I have had better gnocchi else where, but if you go you HAVE to get the Tagitelle. Usually meat sauces are over powered by an over kill of veggies, chunks of onions and garlic which to me over power the palette. This sauce was simple, meaty and salty but still flavourfull. I can see myself craving this meal over and over again. So you know, the pastas and even the olive oil is all hand crafted!
